Formats
Open a code, then Download. Choose the format and the size:
- PNG: an image for screens, documents and messages. Width in pixels: 512 px1024 px2048 px4096 px
- SVG, PDF and EPS: vector files for print that stay sharp at any size. Printed width: 20 mm30 mm50 mm100 mm200 mm
- Transparent background: for placing the code on a coloured design. Keep a strong contrast with what is behind it.
Before printing
- Keep printed codes at least 2 cm wide; bigger for scanning from afar.
- A common rule of thumb: make the code about a tenth as wide as the distance it is scanned from, so about 30 cm for a poster read from 3 m.
- Keep a dark code on a light background with a clear margin around it. The editor refuses colour pairs that are hard to scan.
- Test a printed proof with a few phones before printing many copies. The “Test on your phone” link on the code's page opens it like a visitor, without counting a scan.
- The short link of a dynamic code never changes, so printed copies keep working when you change what it opens.
